Pachinko - King Bob - 04-08-2022

Multi-generational saga of a Korean family, shifting back between present and past. Very good but rather sad. No swords. 5 eps in, and now we have to wait for the next episode. I'm curious how some thing may come out.

I heard this was based on a Korean Best seller. I'll put this on the list when I renew my Apple+ in a month or so.

I also owned a Pachinko machine. Still at the folks house.

I've never understood pachinko. There's a lot of it in Midnight Diner. There's a neighboring pachinko parlor where some of the stories take place.

Me neither. Can you really call it a game? You don't really do anything.

It's kinda like slots combined with pinball, right?

Glad I'm not alone in my lack of understanding of the appeal...

You buy balls to play the game. If you get the balls into certain spots on the face, you win more balls. If you don't get them into the certain spots, the balls go into the machine. The more balls you accrue, the more money you make by selling the balls back. On my machine, the certain spots were flower petals. If you got one ball into the flower petal, you got ten balls back and flower petals opened to make it easier to get into.
