The Night Manager (2016) - King Bob - 04-16-2021 A BBC production based on a Le Carre book that I haven't read. Lots of talent: Olivia Colman, Philip Menzies, and Elizabeth Debicki from The Crown, plus Hugh Laurie as the villain. Tom Hiddleston (Loki from the Thor movies) is the titular character. We're about three episodes in, and enjoying it, but I am finding it far-fetched that he would be welcomed into the villain's inner circle at all, especially so quickly. Some great locations and it looks good. Unfortunately it seems that it will end on a cliff-hanger; it isn't a limited series and it's up in the air if there will be a season two - not only because of the pandemic but the writer and director both quit. RE: The Night Manager (2016) - Greg - 04-16-2021 Seen it. It finishes. RE: The Night Manager (2016) - King Bob - 04-21-2021 This finished up pretty well. Falling for the boss' girlfriend is a tired device, but there was a good twist at the end. Some things were hard to swallow - no one would waste a lot of expensive ordnance to show off - and I think the building of trust would have worked better in a book where you could extend the timeline. But all in all enjoyable, and Tom Hiddleston was pretty good; he got more of a chance to act than he did as Loki. |
