This one is for Greg.

Sweet dreams are made of baths with a maple syrup.

Nothing quite beats the sweet smell of pancakes in the morning, topped with a dollop of butter and drizzled with maple syrup. Pancake Day – which, if you didn’t know, was February 28 – may have already passed, but starting March 3 you can celebrate these delicious fluffy treats at the famous Hakone Kowakien Yunessun hot spring resort by taking a dip in the maple-scented “hot cake bath”.
Yes, the same facility that has let guests relax in baths of green tea, coffee, and wine is now giving you the opportunity to take a soak in a bath scented like the breakfast time favorite. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of its pancake mix, Japanese confectionery company Morinaga has collaborated with the Yunessun resort to bring you this special bath scented like sweet maple syrup carrying gentle notes of vanilla. Three times a day, staff will pour bottles of real maple syrup into the bath, so you know you’re bathing in the real deal.

This bath can be found in the resort’s “swimsuit area”, meaning that, unlike in more traditional hot springs, this area is for bathers who are not in the nude. This is great for families or mixed groups of friends who want to enjoy an onsen trip together, and a good compromise for those who want to experience Japan’s hot spring culture but don’t want to bare it all.
Hakone Kowakien Yunessun is accessible by train and bus, about two hours from Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station, making for an easy day-trip or weekend getaway. The hot cake bath will only be around until April 25, so don’t wait! If you can’t make it to the resort, these rice cooker apple pancakes may just be the next best thing.

This is crazy.  I'm salivating now.  Damned maple syrup.

That adds salt in the wound (or maybe sugar).  I'm not sure when he gave it to me.  Was it at his wedding?  Well, whenever.  I'm letting it age, and when it is ready, it's gonna be nightdropped on some DOOM bro.  As if DOOM does nightdrops anymore.  Maybe I can just FedEx it.

I am astonished to learn that my birthday is Pancake Day.  I am also disappointed that this is only offered in the swimsuit tubs.

I remembered. I just wasn't sure. I get an awful lot of syrups and sauces as gifts so I got confused.

Here's why I'm launching this thread.  Now, and probably forever more, I always think of Greg when I hear of maple syrup.  He thinks of me too, I know it.  And not in a good way.   Angry

A man has been arrested on suspicion of voyeurism following an alleged incident involving his coworker and a bizarre use of syrup and jam.
Robert Somley, a 52-year-old landscape gardener in Monroe, Connecticut, was loading wood into a trailer with his female colleague when he informed her that he needed to take a break.
When the woman went to go and look for him around 20 minutes later, she found him naked inside the home they were working at, watching pornography on a laptop, reports the Connecticut Post.
When asked what he was doing, Somley replied that he needed to relieve himself before returning to work, according to police.
The woman then decided to leave the 52-year-old to his business and continued to load the wood onto the trailer by herself. After a while, she decided she also needed a break and went back inside the home.
When she returned, she allegedly discovered Somley pouring maple syrup on his naked body. The 48-year-old coworker allegedly admitted to police she found the act a “turn on” and asked to join in.
The pair are also reported to have used blueberry jam as part of the foreplay, according to the Connecticut Post.

Police said Somley secretly recorded the incident the entire time on his cellphone. When the woman found out there was a video, she demanded that Somley delete it, but he refused.
The coworker then went to police to complain that Somley had taken videos of her without her permission and refused to remove them.
Police then seized Somley’s cellphone after being granted a search warrant, where they allegedly found videos on the woman.
Somley was eventually arrested and charged with voyeurism. He was released after posting $50,000 bond.

Good work, DM! I might award you a prize that I have in the cupboard.

The YMAA head office is in NH and the bossmang sent me an Xmas gift - ‘ a taste of NH ‘ said the card.

Yep. Pure maple syrup. I haven’t made pancakes since I went diabetic but I might just have to splurge.

Posted from my new iPhone 11.

RE: Maple Syrup - Greg - 12-26-2021

So one of your presents is a new iPhone? Your hints are subtle.

RE: Maple Syrup - Drunk Monk - 12-26-2021

Didn’t we have a thread about our annual Xmas present haul somewhere? I tried to search for it but I’m still learning my new iPhone.

RE: Maple Syrup - Greg - 12-27-2021

It's an iPhone. I'm sure even you could learn to use it.

RE: Maple Syrup - Drunk Monk - 12-27-2021

I should rephrase that. It's getting everything to transfer. As of now, I can send texts but I still receive them on my old iPhone. Well, some of them land there and some on the new one. Plus half of my apps didn't get their passwords carried over so I'm sorting that. I pulled the SIM card on my old iPhone hoping that might help but then some of those apps claimed they sent texts with activation codes that I didn't receive. Of course, these are some of my more critical apps, like my bank.

A lot of my data transferring quickly - like my notes, phone numbers, photos, apps, bookmarked websites, and such, but you know what a pain it can be sometimes. It's still percolating. Stresses me output I'm hypersensitive to stress right now.

I'm hoping that if I sleep on it, it'll all be better in the morning.

RE: Maple Syrup - Drunk Monk - 12-29-2021

Finally got my iPhone to work. I had to purge all the data and start again.

Turns out the quick data transfer from old iPhone to new iPhone was not the way to go.

RE: Maple Syrup - Drunk Monk - 12-29-2021

This phone is da bomb.

It’s hella big tho. My new case is large.

Got almost all my old functions going again. Finding all those passwords is a pain in the ass.

RE: Maple Syrup - King Bob - 01-03-2022

DM - for future reference, I've found that the best way to handle the data transfer is to install from a backup on your computer. It's much faster and works better. Unless you're a savage and never back up your phone.

RE: Maple Syrup - Drunk Monk - 01-03-2022

Yeah, I just turned on my new iPhone and it started telling me what to do. And that turned out to be wrong.

Back on topic, the NH maple syrup is pretty damn tasty. I got a box of frozen organic waffles for it but it's really all about the Irish butter and NH maple syrup.

Mmmmm, Kerrygold.

This is me buttering my waffles...

...only I'm using the piece still in foil...

...for one waffle.

RE: Maple Syrup - thatguy - 01-03-2022

There's some locally made plant based waffles you might want to try. The company is green waffle:

I think they carry them at AJs (gas station/grocery on Soquel and Park
