RE: Star Trek Into Darkness - King Bob - 01-21-2016

I finally saw this - we only have basic cable.

Greg, your post shows the best scene of the whole movie. It's crap. I was annoyed enough when the last movie took the super lazy out of putting it all into a different universe, but this one ups the ante. Shatner as Kirk may have been a bit roguish, but Chris Pine is a total douchebag, and not charming in the least. Plus a bit funny looking in my opinion. Chekov and Scotty are caricatures of the original characters who were themselves caricatures. DM, you are right that Cumberbatch could have had a great part but they blew it. The story sucked - and Shatner would probably have killed Khan in the end. Plus the original had Montalban quoting Melville, which was a nice touch.

The last good Star Trek movie was First Contact - which also had Picard quoting Melville. Yeah Melville!
