Many things are closing or postponing. Emeraldcon in Seattle is being pushed to later in the year. The Olympics, though, are still going ahead at this point.
I feel bad now about joking about KFMTCEC 2020.

Yep. Coachella next. I doubt we’ll get a handle on this before that. It’s next month.
There were already several shuttered stores on Grant in Chinatown.

Just got an email for this. No mention of coronavirus risk, which surprises me.
LCF and I would be interested in going, but I don't know how it could happen. Certainly the planners realize they're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Ireland has cancelled all of its St Patrick's Day parades except for Dublin, and that seems inevitable.

Looks like a lot of students are skipping class today. One of the Art History professors switched to teaching online for the rest of the semester. I figure they will close the university at some point.

All over Ireland they are setting up self-quarantine centers under the designation "PUB" If you feel the need to self-quarantine. Please don't hesitate to use the self-quarantine centers. We'll see you when you get out in about 14 days.

Will that effect your paycheck?
My whole department can telecommute. Well, maybe not our video guy because he's on an entirely independant system, not the network. The rest of the company needs to man phones, stitch, screen, or stock the warehouse. Jonny and I were talking today about what might happen if someone walks in and exposes TC, and we are forced to shut down for two weeks. He has no plan. I can manage my crew but the rest of the company is where the money is.

Coachella, Stagecoach Organizers in Talks to Move Festivals to October Due to Coronavirus
It’s not a done deal, but it is expected to be determined in the next 48 hours whether the fests can be saved from cancellation, according to high-level sources.
Officials with promoter Goldenvoice are working on a plan to try and move the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, to the weekends of Oct. 9 and Oct. 16 in an attempt to save the event from cancellation amid concerns about the coronavirus outbreak. The AEG-owned concert promoter is also working to move the Stagecoach country music festival to October as well, possibly to Oct. 23.
Fearing that Riverside County officials will have to pull the 20-year-old event's permit to bring 250,000 fans over two weekends to Indio, conversations with city officials and talent agents began late Sunday as the hope for staging the festival in April began to diminish. Earlier on Monday, three more cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Riverside County where the fest takes place.
Postponing the massive event until October is a huge endeavor involving hundreds of artists and their representatives, as well as hundreds of contractors and vendors and tens of thousands of employees. Artists are frequenting touring during the fall months, and while organizers aren't likely to get all the performers to agree to move, sources say that if enough of the big headline acts — this year's Coachella headliners include Frank Ocean, Rage Against the Machine and Travis Scott — sign on, then the festival can be moved. (Stagecoach is being headlined by Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood and Eric Church.)
Organizers hope to know within the next 48 hours if the move is possible. If not, the 2020 versions of Coachella and Stagecoach will likely be canceled.
Coachella is one of the largest music festivals in the world, with north of a half-million people descending on the desert each year. It was originally set to take place over two weekends next month, starting April 10 and wrapping up April 19.

They just cancelled classes here until the 13th, and told faculty to use that time to put classes online, at least until 3/27 (that's the last day of classes before Spring Break). However, all staff has to be at work. So I guess it would be a tragedy if a student got sick, but not if we do.
